Nifty little things to know about America from a South African Perspective...
  • You can turn on a red light
  • Saying "please" and "thank you" are optional
  • ALWAYS carry your ID no matter where you are going
  • If you are going to stay here for a while you MUST get Social security and an American Bank Account Asap - you are stuck without it.
  • Although confident - people here hate being confronted
  • There are SO many choices of everything.. i counted today for fun - there are about 45 different types of cereals alone! its great
  • Drinks in most places are bottomless! heehaa
  • When you see a food order has a side of "chips" its not really "chips" its actually crisps - so if you want actual "slap chips" you need to order fries!
  • The water here is not drinkable from the taps and dont be surprised if whenever you order water no one understands you! our accent saying "warrrrtter" is very hard for the Americans.. u need to say "wardder" LOL
  • Hair cuts do not include shampoos! you need to ask for that and it costs extra
  • If you like Iced Tea (like Liptions) - you dont get that here - if you ask for Iced tea you will get a tea bag in a glass with ice! you have to ask for sweet tea.
  • The weather report is freakishly accurate!
More little nifty things to know about America coming as the weeks roll along. Charlotte is full of greenery and beauty and is so clean and the people are quite courteous on the roads. The weather changes from one day being a small tornado to hot and scorching tommorrow to cold the next day!
Well hope that didnt bore you to death! LOL.
